Conversations For Change: Re-Imagining Civic Power and Responsibility
Disclosure Today – Transparency on Demand in association with the CIVICUS World Alliance for Citizen Participation, and the World Movement for Democracy (www.civicus.org) presents Conversations For Change – Re-Imagining Civic Power and Responsibility. ‘Conversations For Change’ Series is aimed at inspiring a new generation of civic leadership. The Series highlights business, civic and social change activists who have succeeded in giving prominence to crucial public and social issues.
The first Conversations for Change entitled Citizen Empowerment Through Freedom of Information will feature Mr. Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj S.C. (the former Attorney General who championed the passage of the FOI legislation and a leading Public Interest Advocate), Mr. Afra Raymond, President of the Joint Consultative Council (Citizen Change-Maker and Activist) and Mr. Rishi Maharaj (Former Head of the FOI Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and our very own Information and Privacy Technologist at Disclosure Today) who will be moderating the event. Recent Freedom of Information court decisions such as the JCC and Ministry of Planning & Sustainable Development case would be discussed along with its ramifications.
The Conversations for Change Series will be launched on the Global Day of Citizen Action, May 16th, 2015 – 5.00pm – 8.00pm. Light Cocktails will be served. The event is free and open to the public but with limited seating. For more information about how to attend, please visit this link.
